Accountant Course in Pakistan After Graduation: Which Path Actually Gets You Hired?

Accountant Course in Pakistan

Have you just graduated and want an accounting job? Then you have three options for an accountant course in Pakistan: CA through ICAP, ACCA, and CMA through ICMA Pakistan. CA can help you obtain a paid training contract, ACCA can help you to work while you study, and CMA gives business graduates a shorter route.

That’s all we will discuss in this article. How each path leads to a first job, what your degree saves you, and where accounting short courses fit.  This is a perfect guide for graduates with a B.Com, BBA, BS Accounting and Finance, or working professionals who want a professional accounting qualification in Pakistan.

Key takeaways

  • CA trainees are paid a minimum monthly stipend set by ICAP, starting at PKR 27,500 for most four-year accounting and finance graduates.
  • ACCA provides four exemptions for a four-year B.Com or BSc Accounting and Finance and requires  36 months of relevant work experience, so you can earn while you learn.
  • ICMA Pakistan allows graduates with a 16-year commerce or business degree to start at Managerial Level-2, skipping the earlier levels.
  • Short courses in QuickBooks, Excel, or financial modelling can provide you with job-ready skills.

How Does Each Accountant Course in Pakistan Shape Your Career?

ACCA Course in Pakistan

ACCA opens doors for global career opportunities. To become a member, you need at least 36 months of experience in a relevant role, signed off by a supervisor, in addition to the 13 exams and an ethics module.

The good news is you can build those 36 months in an accounts, audit or finance role while you sit your exams. That is perfect for graduates who need to earn immediately. Mirchawala’s list of companies hiring ACCA-qualified accountants in Pakistan shows where those roles tend to be.

CMA through ICMA Pakistan

ICMA Pakistan, also known as ICMAP, trains cost and management accountants. These professionals handle costing, budgeting and performance inside companies.

Under ICMA’s own entry rules, a 16-year commerce or business degree gets you straight into Managerial Level-2. From there you need to complete nine courses and three practical training modules. This 14-year commerce degree starts at Managerial Level-1, with twelve courses to pass. ICMA’s October 2026 admissions announcement calls these two-year and 2.5-year routes. If you want to work in industry instead of an audit practice, this one’s worth a close look.

CA through ICAP

CA is the only route here where training comes as a formal, paid contract. You work at an ICAP training organization, and ICAP sets the minimum you get paid.

From 1 July 2026, a graduate with a four-year accounting or finance degree starts on at least PKR 27,500 a month. If your degree is from one of ICAP’s SDAI or RDAI partner institutions, it’s PKR 34,100. Pass four CFAP papers and the stipend goes up to PKR 38,500. Once you’ve qualified, the last six months pay PKR 93,500 (ICAP stipend rates).

How much does each Accountant Course Cost?

Each body charges differently, so the costs vary exam by exam.

For ICAP, the student registration fee is PKR 22,000. Your first CAF exam paper costs PKR 7,000, and each extra paper in the same session is PKR 4,600. The annual subscription is PKR 6,500.

ACCA fee for each Applied Skills exam is £143 at standard entry and £366 if you enter late. Strategic Business Leader is £252. The other Strategic Professional exams are £180 each. The 2026 annual subscription is £140, dropping to £58 for new students in their first year.

Notice that late entry more than doubles most ACCA exam fees. Booking early is the easiest saving you’ll make. Our ACCA total cost guide goes through it in more detail.

The ICMA Pakistan Membership Pathway Exam (MPE) fee is PKR 59,000, and the legal module fee is PKR 14,000.

Which Course is Recognised Outside Pakistan?

If you are thinking of working abroad after finishing your studies, ACCA is built for that. It reports more than 257,900 members and 530,100 future members in 180 countries. At home, HEC treats ACCA membership as equivalent to a master’s degree.

CA Pakistan has formal routes abroad too. Under a 2018 agreement, ICAP members with five years of post-membership experience who live in Australia or New Zealand can join CA ANZ after a pathway programme.

ICAP lets ACCA-qualified members enter at the CAF stage, with exemptions from three or four papers for a fee.

Can Accounting Short Courses in Karachi Get You Hired?

A short course can help you begin your career in an assistant or junior role. It cannot replace CA, ACCA, or CMA, but it really helps alongside your main path, since employers use the same software and spreadsheets that trainees work in every day. Most graduates searching for accounting short courses in Karachi go for these three skills.

For bookkeeping software, there’s Mirchawala’s QuickBooks course. It’s self-paced and takes four to eight weeks if you study regularly.

For spreadsheets, there’s Microsoft Excel training.

And for forecasting and valuation, there’s financial modelling. Mirchawala’s financial modelling course covers forecasting, linked financial statements, DCF and other valuation methods in Excel, and you can enrol in English or Urdu.

Which path should you choose?

There’s no single winner in the ACCA vs CA in Pakistan debate. The best accounting qualification in Pakistan for jobs is the one that fits the work you want and the way you need to study.

Option Key strength Best fit
CA (ICAP) Paid training contract from the start Audit and assurance, a structured start
ACCA International recognition and flexible study Earning while you study, working abroad
CMA (ICMA Pakistan) Shorter routes for business graduates Costing, budgeting and finance inside companies

Frequently asked questions

Can I do ACCA after BBA in Pakistan?

Yes. ACCA’s minimum entry level is two A Levels and three GCSEs or their equivalent, so a bachelor’s degree is enough. You can also get some exceptions in ACCA with your BBA  qualification. Run your degree through ACCA’s exemptions calculator to see what you would get.

Can I sit ACCA exams online from home in Pakistan?

No. ACCA says all session exams have been held in centres since March 2026, except in countries with no exam centre. If you’re in Pakistan, you will have to plan to sit at an exam centre.

Is ACCA equal to a master’s degree in Pakistan?

Yes, HEC treats ACCA membership as equivalent to a master’s degree from a Pakistani university. Members can request an individual equivalence certificate through HEC’s e-services portal.

Can I switch from ACCA to CA later?

Yes. ACCA-qualified members can register with ICAP and come in at the CAF stage. ICAP charges PKR 22,200 for an exemption from three papers, or PKR 29,600 for four.

Which accounting course is best after B.Com?

That depends on the work you want. A four-year B.Com earns four ACCA exemptions. It may count as a relevant degree for ICAP’s direct CAF entry. And it gets you directly into Managerial Level-2 with ICMA Pakistan.
